Iraq War Critic Democrat Murtha Dies

John Murtha, 77, the conservative Democrat from Pennsylvania, died Monday of complications from surgery for removing his gallbladder. The former Marine drill instructor, who was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star during the Vietnam War, died peacefully with his family at his side at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Va., where he was admitted to January 31, his office said.

UBS Turns To Profit In Q4
Swiss banking giant UBS AG reported Tuesday a profit for the fourth quarter compared to losses reported for the last quarter and prior year periods, benefiting from higher net interest income and lower costs. The year-over-year turnaround also reflected much lower trading loss. However, outflows soared sequentially, and chief executive Oswald Grübel said addressing the causes of net new money outflows remains a main priority.
