Hewlett-Packard Co. Thursday entered into a definitive agreement to buy data storage firm 3PAR Inc. through a cash tender offer of $33 per share in cash, or an enterprise value of $2.35 billion. 3PAR said its board has determined that HP's revised offer constitutes a superior proposal to the bid from Dell Inc. Earlier in the day, Dell decided to opt out of the race for 3PAR. The deal has been approved by the boards of directors of both companies.

Video-game publisher Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. said Thursday after the markets closed that it swung to a third quarter profit, as revenue surged due to strong performance of "Red Dead Redemption" and continued strength of its catalog business. At the same time, the company raised its guidance for the fourth quarter and fiscal year 2010, and said it currently expects to be profitable for the full fiscal year.
